5 Great Things – August 2024

Have a few minutes?
Summer is coming to a close pretty quickly –
so slow down a minute and take a look at 5 great
things that have happened recently!!

We Are Excited to Walk!

Staff received their walk t-shirts (months earlier than anyone in the US!!!).

Staff in Honduras are excited to help promote the walk and encourage others to get involved with sharing the great news of the mission.

“No matter where we are at, when participate together, we show people how much we support each other,” Gricelda said. “Please register to walk with us – the registration is free. Being part of the event shows how much you care about the people in Honduras!”

Community Education is Important

Developing relationships and promoting healthy behaviors is important during a mission trip – and more and more teams are finding the time to help!

“Not only did this team provide high school students with a great lesson on health, they provided them with bags of products specific for teens!” Gladis explained.

Leaving the community better educated is a special gift!

US Staff Retreat!

Patrick, Courtney, and Christine were able to get together for a day to organize, plan, and work together – IN PERSON!!

Thanks to our friends at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, SC, our US based team held their first ever retreat. It’s great that our growing team has the support of our friends who have been serving the mission for a long time.

We all recognize that with growth comes change, and we are grateful for everyone who embraces it knowing that together we will be able to serve the mission even better.

Learning New Skills

Recently, Claudia has been able to step out of the lab and has begun to learn how to help in the pharmacy. It’s a little scary for Claudia to step out of her comfort zone, but it also helps build confidence.

Developing our workforce is important. Our staff in Honduras have endless capabilities, and with our help and support, they can learn and grow into even better professionals. Because of your support of the mission, we are able to focus some time on staff training and development.

Special Thanks from Icoteas

Tulio and his family have been the caretakers of the Icoteas property for many years. They live next to the clinic and take great pride in how well the clinic functions when a team is there.

Tulio asked us to remind you how grateful he is for the opportunity to help provide for his community. People come from miles away to the clinic in Icoteas. It is a location that, while difficult, people from villages in the mountains are able to get to for vital medical care.

“You are a blessing to our community,” reminds Tulio. “We are so thankful.”
