Sacred Connections: The Pulse of the Community

August 2024

Lift Up the Word – Lift up the World
When you pray, He listens.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:4-7

Please Pray With Us

Two Medical Mission Teams will travel to Honduras in August. The Morgan/Centenary UMC Team from Winston-Salem, NC travels to Honduras on August 9 and the Bean Team on August 23. Please lift our mission teams in prayer, asking for safe travels, good health for all members, and success in the important work they will be doing. Please pray that all of our services, including in-person mission teams, telemedicine, and community development, are guided to help those in greatest need at the times they need it most.

Praise God for Liam’s great test results.

Liam’s been having some troubles, and because of the medical referral program, he and his mother were able to travel to La Ceiba for testing. It was reported that he does not have a heart issue!

Please pray for all our friends throughout Honduras. The entire country is in a state of emergency as dengue cases continue to rise. Pray for the quick healing for those who have contracted dengue, and the swift eradication.  Our communities are doing their part! They are working together to decrease standing water, remove garbage, and treat the water that causes mosquitos to breed. Please include the health department and community workers safety in your prayers.

Please pray for positive health outcomes for…

  • our friend Amy L. in the US. She is having a difficulty with her health the last few years and is in the hospital now with breathing difficulties.
  • Roberto Carlos who has been in the medical referral program since 2019 presenting with seizures.
  • 12-year-old Stephany from Plan de Flores. She has dengue and continues to have a low-grade fever.
  • Angel, an 8-year-old boy who was admitted to the hospital July 28th because his oxygen levels are low. Please pray for a quick diagnosis and relief.
  • Nine medical referral patients who will travel for hours in August to get the specialty care they desperately need. Sometimes those in the medical referral program wait up to a year for care, all while trying to maintain their lives.

CHHF will be hosting our second Community Walk fundraiser on October 5. This is the first time we are recruiting both in-person AND virtual walkers – so everyone can participate!

Please pray for the success of the walk, specifically that we can recruit 100 participants and raise at least $25,000. The walk will help us recruit new team members as well as help decrease the fundraising deficit we are concerned about.

Praise God for a successful Board meeting on July 7. Our board’s passion for the mission, coupled with your support, truly helps make sound decisions to impact the mission.

Please pray for our CHHF Committees – that the work they do benefits the medical care of the Honduran people and strengthens the mission.

Continue to pray for the safely and health of our friends in Honduras and in the United States.

Thank you for faithfully supporting CHHF.
