Team Insider – April 2025

Your Impact Doesn’t Leave When You Do

A Challenge from President Edwards
Your Impact Is Needed Now More Than Ever—and It Will Be TRIPLED!

Dear Mission Family,

You’ve stood in the clinic doorways, held the hands of patients, and looked into the eyes of people whose lives were changed by your care. You were the hero then—and today, you still are.

Right now, our fundraising is significantly down, and the need in Honduras is greater than ever. Patients are struggling to access even the most basic medical care. Families can’t afford life-saving heart medications, a prosthetic for a child, or therapy for children with special needs.

But you can help—and your gift will go THREE TIMES as far!

I am challenging YOU to a $7,000 matching challenge, every dollar you give before April 30 will be tripled.

Let me quickly tell you about Josselyn.

She’s almost six years old and had never spoken a single word. Born with a condition called ankyloglossia, or tongue-tie, her future was limited by something a simple procedure could fix. Her family couldn’t afford it, and the public health system in Honduras didn’t consider it essential.

Then a mission team—one just like yours—arrived and changed her life in just minutes.

Now, she needs ongoing speech therapy to truly find her voice. Her mom, Cindy, travels four hours by bus and taxi just for a single appointment costing $31.29. That may sound small—but as you know, it’s an impossible amount for our Honduras families.

This is where you come in.

You’ve seen the impact. You know what care can do. And now, even after your mission trip, you can keep being the reason a child speaks their first words, or a patient gets the medication they need to survive.

Your gift today will be TRIPLED to:

  • Fund essential treatments for children like Josselyn
  • Provide medications, specialty care, and clinic support
  • Keep the mission going for families with nowhere else to turn

Every dollar given by April 30 will be matched 3:1—tripling your impact.

You were a hero in Honduras. You still are. Will you say yes again?

New Medical Handbook Empowers Mission Teams in Honduras

We’re excited to announce a brand-new resource created to support and strengthen the care we provide on medical mission trips to Honduras: the Medical Handbook for Providers Serving in Colón.

This comprehensive guide is designed to help medical professionals offer more consistent, effective, and culturally informed care to patients throughout the Department of Colón. It includes best practices, treatment protocols, commonly encountered conditions, and practical guidance tailored specifically for the unique challenges of serving in rural Honduran communities.

Whether you’re a returning volunteer or preparing for your very first mission trip, this handbook will be an invaluable tool in helping you deliver the highest level of care to those in need. It will be continually updated so it will live in a Google Doc

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated committee who poured their time, expertise, and passion into developing this resource. Your hard work ensures that our patients receive thoughtful, consistent treatment—and that every team member is equipped to make a lasting impact.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing how you can access the handbook and incorporate it into your preparation for upcoming trips.

Current 2025 Impact…

Together, our teams have provided care to 2,573 patients—and counting!

Step Up. Lead a Team in 2026. Make a Difference

If you’ve felt the tug to take your involvement to the next level, this is your moment. As a team leader, you’ll help shape an unforgettable experience—bringing healing, hope, and God’s love to communities in need.

Even if you’re not ready to lead, you can still play a vital role!
Here’s how you can help grow the mission:

Share your story – Tell friends, family, or church groups about your experience.
Pray for teams and leaders – Cover them in encouragement and support.
Invite someone new – Encourage a coworker, student, or fellow church member to join a trip.
Host an info night – We’ll help with materials and details!

Let’s build something amazing together in 2026. Ready to step up—or help someone else do it? We’d love to hear from you!
