A Unique Opportunity to Bond

Since the purpose of my position is providing remote support for the people working at the clinic, creating that sense of companionship requires a few more extra steps.

Having the ladies from Limón working on the medicines and being able to help this week, gave a real chance to have our bond as a team become stronger by helping each other directly and sharing experiences on helping teams and patients.

Making Connections Is Important!

Our friend Hazmar still awaits his final heart surgery to fix a birth defect. The surgery is being scheduled soon, but it requires hundreds of dollars’ worth of blood that is impossible for his family to pay for.

But Gladis’ husband, Jairo, had a better plan! He helped Hazmar’s mother contact the 1st Battalion Soldiers in Tegucigalpa (where the surgery will take place). They have agreed to donate everything needed!

“When we all work together, we can make a life changing difference in the lived of patients. I am glad I could help.” Jairo said.

Learning with Duolingo

Several staff and a whole group of volunteers have been busy using Duolingo to learn conversational English/Spanish. It’s a great tool for everyone – no matter what level you begin at.

We’ve noticed that by using the same tool, our English Learners and Spanish Leaners have a lot to talk about together! Everyone has the same characters and games along the way.

Learning together makes it just that much more fun!!

Good Luck Jessi!

We were so excited when Jessi came back from the Cayman Islands and was able to join us to interpret again. THEN we were excited when she decided to stay in Limón.

Now we are excited for Jessi as she begin her new job as a 4th grade teacher at the local elementary school! We will miss having her interpret, but we are glad she is in town and working to help children learn and be healthy.

Last week, the team was able to come and provide lessons at the school where Jessi teaches. What a fantastic opportunity for everyone.
