Team Insider – May 2025

2026 Team Schedule Coming in June
What Will Your Role Be?

As we prepare for a full calendar of mission teams in 2026, we’re inviting you to step into a deeper role in this life-changing work. Whether you’re ready to lead, recruit, or support, there’s a place for you to make a big impact.

Become a Team Leader-in-Training
We are actively seeking passionate individuals to co-lead a team alongside an experienced leader next year. You’ll learn the ins and outs of team planning, logistics, and leadership—while gaining the confidence and skills to lead your own team in the future. Is this your year to step up?

Help Us Recruit New Team Members
Could you give a short presentation at your church, hospital, workplace, or service club? Know any dentists, vision care providers, or non-medical volunteers who’d make great teammates? Your voice and story might be just what someone needs to say “yes” to the mission in 2026.
Let us know you’re willing to help—we’ll provide you with a ready-to-go recruitment toolkit.

Support New Team Members
We’re updating the Team Member Handbook and would love your input. Whether you’ve got helpful tips, editing skills, or a knack for layout and design—we welcome your talents!

Host a Fundraiser to Support the Missions Impact
Consider organizing a small fundraiser in your community to help cover essential supplies for the mission. Funds raised will go toward purchasing medications, reading and sunglasses for distribution, and bags of rice and beans for families in need. From a bake sale to a benefit golf outing, every effort makes a difference—and we’re here to help you get started!

You’ve Seen the Need. Now Help Us Go One Step Further.

Yan Carlos has been in the referral prgm for 6 years and relies on you for monthly medication. Read more about him here.

If you’ve served in Honduras with CHHF, you know the reality: sometimes primary care just isn’t enough. Some patients need a referral to a specialist or long-term care to fully recover. That’s where you can make a life-changing difference—again.

Our Medical Referral Program bridges the gap between hope & healing.
When a patient’s needs go beyond what can be provided in a clinic or on a mission trip, your financial support ensures they aren’t left behind. With your help, patients receive the diagnostics, treatment, medications, therapy, and ongoing care they desperately need.

Ever wonder what happens after a referral?

That’s when our incredible care team of volunteer Peggy H. and Honduras Community Development Director Gladis A. springs into action. They review each case, determine the best course of treatment, connect with local providers or specialist mission teams, schedule appointments, arrange travel, and assess how much financial assistance is needed. Every step is personal, intentional, and rooted in compassion.

Brenis was seen for the first time this week. He has epilepsy and without meds, he falls & injures himself. Can he rely on you?

Some patients need medication to manage chronic conditions like epilepsy, hypertension, diabetes, or sickle cell anemia. Others require physical therapy, surgeries, or repeat visits for recovery. All of this is coordinated and made possible by generous supporters like you.

But here’s the challenge:
Medical referrals can’t wait. Emergencies arise without warning, and we need to be ready with immediate funding to say yes when care is urgently needed.

That’s why we’re asking you—our trusted team alumni and friends—to become a monthly donor to support the Medical Referral Program. Your consistent support ensures that when the need arises, help is already on the way.

You’ve already changed lives in Honduras. Will you take the next step and help carry the healing even further?

Exciting Upcoming Trips and Mission Needs

We’re thrilled to share that Steve Rowe and Richard Bowie, our longtime partners from AHMEN, will be leading a mission team departing June 5th. This will be a groundbreaking trip—they’ll be the first team to reach Punta Piedra, a village that has been inaccessible due to poor road conditions. They’ll be joined by Honduran providers Dr. Biason and Dra. Mendoza, and a small team focused on visiting several area schools. Please keep them in your prayers as they take on this important and ambitious week of service.

Later next month, Dr. Sean and Dr. Loreli Rowe will lead a team departing June 20th. As a pediatrician, Dr. Loreli is preparing to meet the pressing health needs of many children. In a beautiful gesture of solidarity, their team has chosen to skip the usual “day of rest” at the end of the trip in favor of a “day of celebration” with our Honduran staff in Limón. We can’t wait to see and share those joyful moments!

Looking ahead, CHHF staff will lead another mission September 19–27, and we’re actively recruiting! This is a great opportunity for medical, dental, vision, and non-medical volunteers to join the work. If you know someone ready to serve, please encourage them to consider this meaningful trip.

“Teamwork is the secret that makes common people achieve uncommon results.”
— Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha.

Will You Walk So Our Friends Don’t Have To?

In Honduras, people in remote villages often walk for miles—sometimes days—just to reach medical care. In 2025, we’re inviting you to walk for them.

Join us for The Path to Hope—two fundraising walks planned for 2025! Whether you participate in person or virtually, your steps will directly support those who are willing to walk so far for the care they need.

Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps provide life-saving medical care to someone who may have no other access.

Now’s the time: register, set your goal, and start fundraising to bring healing and hope to the people of Honduras.

Want to take it even further?

– Start a Virtual Team and walk in your community.

– Host a walk in your own community—we’d love to help you get started! Send us a message here.

– Become a sponsor—our sponsorship packages offer meaningful recognition and make a huge impact.

Let’s walk the Path to Hope—together.
