Oh boy, this year has gotten off to a muddy start! With nearly nonstop rain for the past three and a half months in Limón, the dirt roads have been nearly impossible to grade—leaving mission teams to navigate some seriously messy conditions.
But when the roads get tough, heroes emerge. A few weeks ago, our yellow bus found itself completely stuck in the mud. Three different vehicles tried to help, and one even lost its bumper in the effort! Just when it seemed hopeless, in rolled the Pepsi truck—strong, steady, and ready to save the day! With some skillful maneuvering, it pulled us free, proving that Pepsi isn’t just refreshing—it’s a lifesaver!
We can’t wait to share this story with Pepsi and let them know just how much we appreciate their unexpected and much-needed support.

A Reunion of Gratitude
In 2024, Nurse Practitioner Carrie spent hours by a young boy’s side as he waited to be transferred to the hospital for an appendicitis. Through his fear and uncertainty, she held his hand, offering comfort and reassurance when he needed it most.
This year, as Carrie returned to Limón leading our first mission team, she was met with a heartwarming surprise—her young friend, now healthy and smiling, had come to say thank you. His visit of appreciation was a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact compassion can have.
Moments like these remind us that answered prayers leave lasting memories. And for our patients, the kindness and care you share are never forgotten.
A Healthy Start for a Bright Future
Adriel, the son of our dedicated records room staff member, Iveth, is preparing to start first grade this year. Before the school bell rings, Iveth was grateful that m medical mission team was there to provide Adriel with a check-up, ensuring he’s healthy and ready to learn.
“You are always there for our community,” Iveth shared. “It is a blessing that we can count on you to care about the health of the children. They will achieve more in school because they are healthy and can learn.”
We’re excited to see Adriel—and all the children of Colón—thrive this school year!
Bridging Borders with Friendship
Earlier this month, children in the U.S. and Honduras connected through a special craft—making friendship bracelets!
After learning about the importance of kindness and compassion, the children eagerly created colorful beaded bracelets to exchange with their new friends across borders. It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the greatest joy comes from giving.
Thanks to the mission teams, these bracelets are now on their way to their recipients. What a special opportunity to share a piece of kindness and build friendships with someone 3,000 miles away!
A Full-Circle Moment: Rafael’s Journey from Student to Caregiver
Since 2021, Rafael has been pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor with the support of the Eduardo Dubon Memorial Scholarship. Through hard work and dedication, he recently achieved a major milestone—graduating from medical school!
This month, we were thrilled to have Rafael join not just one, but two medical mission teams serving in Limón. While he continues to learn from the U.S. doctors he works alongside, Rafael also brings invaluable knowledge, passion, and energy to the teams. His enthusiasm is truly contagious, and we’re incredibly grateful for the care and compassion he shares with every patient he meets.
